Colored Label Manager-Getting started

Colored Label Manager for Jira allows Jira users to create, manage, control labels globally or per-project and generating powerful reports based on labels . Either manage Jira Labels field or create new colored label fields.

Installing Colored Label Manger for Jira

Option 1: Installation from within Jira

 

  1. The App is built on Forge, which means it is hosted by Atlassian itself and no data leaves your instance.

     

    • Log into your Jira instance as an admin.

    • Go to Settings → Apps → Manage Apps → Find new apps

    • Locate Colored Label Manger for Jira

    • Click Try it free to download and install your app.

    • You're all set! Click Close in the Installed and ready to go dialog.

Option 2: Installation from the marketplace

  1. Follow the LINK

  2. Log in with an account that has Jira Administrator Permission on your instance

  3. Click “Try it free” to start the 30-day trial

  4. Select your instance

As Jira Administrator:

  1. Click on Apps

  2. Go to → Colored Label Manager

  3. Click on Colored Label Fields

  4. Click on Create Colored Label Field

 

 

  1. Enter a Name and Description

  2. Click Create

 

You can create many label fields for different use cases: Project Phases , Feature Areas , Team Responsibility, Definition of Done (DoD), Definition of Ready, Acceptance Criteria or simple Select List.

PS : If you are in Service Management project ,label fields are added automatically to your screens.

 

In order to use label fields in Software project you should add them to the appropriate screens.

 

 

To check which software type project (Company-managed or Team-managed) you need help with, look at the bottom of your project’s left-hand sidebar: If you see an icon stating You’re in a team-managed project and Learn more menu items, you're in a team-managed project:

 

 

 

  • Select Project settings > Issue types > Search and add you colored label field

If you don't, you're in a company-managed project.

  • Select Project settings > Issues > Layout > Edit Issue Layout > Search and add your colored label field
